Crete Marathon (Chania, Crete island - Hellas | Greece)
Crete Marathon is a running race in Chania, Crete started in 2015, as an event organized by the Chania Health Runners Association (S.D.Y.H.) and co-organized by the Region of Crete - Regional Unit of Chania and the Municipality of Chania. Important contributors, supporters and proponents of the event are always all the municipalities of the administrative prefecture of Chania.
Aiming to be a beautiful meeting of the running community at the beginning of the season (Spring), in a pleasant, fun and enthusiastic atmosphere, in the beautiful city, port and coastal road of Chania, this event quickly evolved into everyone's favorite running race and the way to inspire young people in this wonderful world of mild sport for all!
In addition to the long distance of the Marathon, this event also offers distances of 2.5, 5 and 10 kilometres and has managed - thanks to the distance, from the large pool of runners from onshore Greece - to attract more than 2,500 participants in periods before the health crisis.
In 2023, the new era of the event begins, attempting to be better organized, to grow even bigger and to exceed all expectations of the participants, the spectators and the local community. Numerous children's entertainment and sporting events alongside cultural events will give even more Cretan flavour to the visitors.
The attitude of the Association and the event from the beginning has been non-profit, raising, in addition to the costs of the event, money for social responsibility purposes, contributing to the work of charitable organizations of the Municipality.
This Social Contribution approach is also maintained in the new era of Crete Marathon that is rising in 2023 with TRIMORE Sport Events to further strengthen and strengthen the organizational team, aspiring, with the support of sponsors and athletes to multiply the number of participants and at the same time contribute to the achievement of this ambitious vision.
