Introduction - Few words about XTERRA

The XTERRA Cross Aquathlon Championship is part of the XTERRA Greece Championship, an integral part of the XTERRA Planet European Tour. In parallel to the Off Road Triathlon race, XTERRA Greece, aiming to develop sports and integrate more people into the XTERRA spirit, provides Cross Aquathlon races in two distances: Full Distance 1.5k Swimming | 10k Mountain Run and Sprint Distance 0.75k Swimming and 5k mountain running.

The age groups are: 15-19 | 20-24 | 25-29 | 30-34 | 35-39 | 40-44 | 45-49 | 50-54 | 55-59 | 60-64 | 65-69 | 70-74. In those age groups, athletes of all levels could participate.. even beginners.

Especially for beginners though, but also for the purposes of promoting the Off Road Triathlon, there is a Sprint distance Triathlon has been created: 0.75k swimming | 15k mountain bike and 5k mountain running as well as relays that can form 2 or 3 athletes, without having to do all the sports themselves.

Race details - XTERRA Greece Cross Aquathlon

The race is centered (Athletes Village) on the beach of Vouliagmeni and in addition to the swim in the bay in front of the beach, it extends over the mountainous area of ​​southern Ymittos, just above Vouliagmeni and Varkiza and in a small part of the city of Vouliagmeni.

All athletes are required to pick up their athletes kit with all necessary information from the secretariat of the event, according to the site announced -in the previous days- schedule and until the Race Brief, which will take place in the afternoon of the previous, that it is strictly mandatory for athletes to attend it.

The Cross Aquathlon’s transition zone opens at 08:30 on race day and remains open for athletes until 9:30 for Full Distance and 10:30 for Sprint Distance. The Athletes, In order to get into the zone, are going to be checked by the referee (bib number, bracelet, stickers, tattoo). The referee has the right to ban the advent of an athlete if something is not right. Only one athlete's entry is allowed for putting things in and in order to start the race. They are not allowed to enter and exit unnecessarily.

Every athlete must have his or her place in the transition zone arranged in his or her special basket. Its position is defined by its number, which is also applied to its basket. All things must be properly placed to the position of each athlete, so that they do not protrude and obstruct. Leaving the transition zone to start the race, all things of the athlete should be inside athlete’s basket.

At the entrance to the Transition zone athletes will find water for their use.

Prior to the start, all athletes should be at the beach at least 15 minutes prior to the Race brief. The starting waves will take place separately for Full distance (10:00, men - women) and Sprint distance (10:30 - Men - women). Athletes should choose their positions in a timely manner, do not be pushed and wait in a straight line where indicated.

The starting order that can be given at any time is preceded by the "take your marks" profession. The Race Director will give the order to start the race with a horn and / or siren.

It is the responsibility of each athlete to know his or her route as well as the loop (for Full Distance).

The athlete has the right to wear a wetsuit without assigning it to any other category. The wetsuit is prohibited if the sea temperature is above 24.9 ° C and is mandatory if it is below 18 ° C.

During swimming, the distance to the first buoy is 200m.

The use of the swimming cap of the event is mandatory, as is the application of the tattoo with the unique number on the arm or in this position on the wetsuit.

Fins, paddles, pull buoys, snorkels, ear music equipment or other auxiliary equipment, and any such infringement and / or avoidance of passing out of buoys, may result in cancellation of participation without notice.

The athletes coming out of the sea, must pass under the arch and follow the marked path to enter the Aquathlon Transition zone to find the numbered box. Along the way, they will also find water in bottles, if they wish to cool off.

Athletes have to put all their swimming equipment inside their basket (wetsuit, cap, googles) to avoid disturbing the passing of other athletes. The athlete must put on the running shoes, apply the elastic band with the bib number (number shown from the front) well before starting to move towards the exit of the Transition zone. Any breach of these regulations results in a penalty of 2' which can be cancellation of participation if there are more than one infringement or a continuous one.

On the running leg (9.8k for Full Distance or 6.2k for Sprint Distance), athletes will find water and bananas as refueling in the 1st and 4.2km. Garbage should only be discarded at the start or at the end of each station, so that volunteers can easily take care of the cleanliness. Penalty 2' will be charged to offenders, and repetition will result in cancellation of participation.

There is no Technical Assistance Station except for the intervention of the special team for health reasons.

Athletes 'bib numbers in the elastic band should be visible from the front throughout their running leg of the race, with a 2' penalty for offenders or cancellation of participation if they finish without the number in the correct position so that they are visible at the finish line (to help the traceability any objections). Music / audio devices are prohibited and there is a cancellation of participation penalty for violators.

If any athlete is confirmed that have avoided the appropriate and demarcated route (shortcut), he / she will receive a minimum of 2' penalty, and may be receive a cancellation of participation by the race depending on the offense. It is the responsibility of the athlete to know the route that the race determines.

Upon finishing the race, all athletes will receive a finishing medal and water and then enter a special zone of healing / recovery, medical care and snack. Athletes who leave this area have no right to re-enter. The timing chips are not delivered to the finish line and are stored because only by delivering this the athlete will enter the transition zone to get their stuff.

Cross Aquathlon athletes could enter the transition zone to get their stuff after finishing their race and recovers, whenever they wish, with attention to athletes who have not completed their race yet. Only with the timing chip and the athlete-tattoo (numbered) / bracelet could enter the transition zone (to get their stuff) himself/herself and not his/her representatives.

Athletes' time results and placement will be available on a dedicated internet site, and athletes must check for any mistakes. If necessary, submit objections upon completion of the race (last stop), directly on the timer. Appeals will not be accepted after 3 pm in order the preparation procedure of the awards at 19:15 in the afternoon, to take place.
